Since its very beginning, VMLA has been lucky to have so many amazing volunteers step up to help run the association — from board members, coaches, and team managers, to equipment managers, timekeepers, raffle table attendants, and even our pancake masters!
Every lacrosse season, VMLA needs your help. Parents and guardians are invited to share their time, expertise, and energy to make the lacrosse experience fun and rewarding for all Vancouver youth. Our association relies heavily on community support. Volunteers are the heart of VMLA, with minimal reliance on government funding and fundraising.
To help keep VMLA thriving, we ask that each family contribute 4 hours of volunteer time per season. There are lots of small tasks that make a big difference, as well as key roles that have a major impact on the organization and the kids.
For this season, we will be utilising “Signup.com” to track all volunteer hours, and for those who do not complete the required hours (minimum 4 hours for U7 through U17), the fee of $200 will be charged at the end of the season. There will also be the option of choosing to pay the $250 fee at the time of registration if you decide to opt out of volunteering at the association level.
To ensure volunteer hours are logged, all participants will be required to sign up through the Signup.com links forwarded and will be checked in upon completion of the volunteer shift(s). Please watch your email and check the website throughout the season for the signup links to various positions.
If a role is not specified under the list of VOLUNTEER ROLES, it must be approved by the Director of Volunteers to be covered by the volunteer bond program.

Team-related duties (such as timekeeper, scorekeeper, penalty box) are EXCLUDED from the volunteer bond process, and it is expected that the Team Manager will assign these on a rotating basis to parents when required.
